The Post With No Name

WOW. Almost two years have passed. I cannot cover the whole timeframe in this post but suffice it to say we love living in Tucson, Arizona.  In 2019, we started out in St. George, Utah, moved next door to La Verkin for the pandemic, and as soon as we got that second covid vaccine in March 2021 we hightailed it to Tucson to find an apartment. Before the lease was up, we knew Tucson would be our permanent home. If you don't follow me on Facebook then you have no way of knowing that we bought a manufactured home in a senior community last March 2022. It's quiet but very active!

I have found my tribe of beaders and artists here. I was lucky to get some guidance on where...

to offer my artistic beadwork to local retailers and landed a few spots in Tubac, south of Tucson, which is a great tourist spot complete with high end shops and galleries. I've been selling there for over a year now. I've also found an artistic guild in Tucson called the Tucson Handweavers & Spinners Guild (thsg.org). In addition to promoting all sorts of textile practices, some of which I hope to learn, this group has made room for a bead work study group. They are a wonderful, welcoming group and I am firmly entrenched now in an artistic lifestyle which I've been envisioning for about 10 years.

The latest triumph feeding my soul is participating in a Gallery exhibit at Tucson's Jewish Community Center for the month of February 2023. As a member of the Guild, I entered a one of a kind, not likely repeatable feat of a piece. I say that with no ego. My hands were screaming after the six to eight months of handiwork that it took to produce. They have recovered nicely after many apologies from the artist within me and the necklace has put me on the map at least for those who have seen it.  That's enough for me to be grateful.

If you follow this blog, I trust you are well and thriving too! Here's a look at this past Sunday's Gallery reception  and my Desert Transition Necklace...

Oh yes, and then there is the Gem Show still going on!

Have I said how much I love it here?

  4. I love Arizona too! So much to do and see! Stayed at a ranch in Tubac and shopped there. A great art community! Actually my partner, Cheryl, is driving there tomorrow from Phoenix for the day. What shops are your items in?
